Five-Year Survival  10 to 15 percent 

Investigational 
•  Adjuvant chemotherapy must still be considered
  investigational, but several studies have shown a modest
  increase in disease-free survival and overall survival.
• Treatment with radiation or chemotherapy or both before
  surgery has been used on an investigational basis in patients
  with Stage IIIA disease. Preliminary results suggest that
  there may be benefit by combining all three treatments in
  selected cases. Newer trials are giving cisplatin with
  etoposide , vinca alkaloids or other agents together with
  radiation, followed by surgery.
